AntiSpam - A feature of Atlantis Hosting
that helps to prevent unwanted email. It scans incoming email for
certain characteristics of spam messages. Each email is then given
a rating that tells the probability that a message is unwanted email.
Each user can configure the threshold at which an email is considered
spam. Users can also make blacklists (for email addresses that only
send spam) and whitelists (for email addresses that should never
be considered spam). The higher a user sets the threshold, the more
junk email will get through. However, setting the threshold too low
will result in legitimate email being marked as spam. This system
does not delete or block any email, it only tags the subject line
as SPAM so that you can sort through your mail more quickly.
AntiVirus - This functions much like an
anti-virus program on your computer. It is a program running on our
servers that scan all incoming email for viruses. If a virus is found,
the message is deleted and you will receive a notice from the server
that an infected message was found and removed. You will also know
what virus was infecting the email and who sent you the message.
AWstats - is a tool that allows you
to analyze the log files for your visitors. AWstats provides a graphical
representation of details such as how many visitors you have each
day, how many pages the visitors view, how many times the visitors
come back to view the site again, and what pages of your site are getting
viewed the most.
File Manager - This tool is included
in your control panel. It allows you to find, manipulate, and delete
files and folders in your hosting account much like Windows Explorer
does on your PC. File Manager allows you to create new folders, upload
files, change permissions, delete files and folders, edit files,
compress and uncompress files, and rename files and folders.
Mailboxes - Mailboxes store your incoming
email on our servers for you to retrieve later. All mailboxes have
a maximum data size - a point at which no more emails can be stored.
This point can vary with the size of each email and any attachments
sent with it. Once your mailbox is full, it will not receive any
more incoming emails and anyone sending you email will receive notice
that your box is full and their message will not be seen. To correct
this, you will need to delete some of the mail in your mailbox or
purchase additional space. Your Mailbox is accessible in three different
ways: POP3, IMAP, and Webmail. Webmail allows
you to read and write email through any web browser with an internet
connection. IMAP provides you with a constant connection to the mail
server and synchronizes the contents of your online mailbox with
the contents of a folder on your computer. POP3 is similar to IMAP,
except the connection is not constant and the contents of your online
mailbox are deleted more frequently. Both POP3 and IMAP are available
with most email programs such as Outlook Express or MS Outlook.
Mail Alias - Aliases allow you to
send mail coming into our servers on one address to a different mailbox on your
account. This is useful if you wish to consolidate all of your incoming
mail into one mailbox hosted on our network.
Mail Forwards - Forwards take mail
coming into our servers and sends it off to another email address
outside of our network. This is useful if you wish to consolidate
all of your email into a mailbox provided by your Internet Access
Provider.
Password Protected Directories - allow
you to restrict access to certain directories in your account. Only
the people that you have given the username and password to will
have access to the pages and files in the directory. Site Studio - This site design tool
allows you to build and maintain a professional-looking website.
You can choose from any of dozens of templates available in your
account. Just enter your information and Site Studio does the rest.
Webalizer - is another log analyzer
tool similar to AWstats. Webalizer provides many of the same details
as AWstats, but does not go into as much detail about individual
user patterns.
